FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bastrop, Texas – Bastrop Little League, Inc., d.b.a. Bastrop Youth Baseball & Softball Organization (BYBSO) is excited to share the outcomes of the Special General Membership Meeting held on January 11, 2025. With a quorum present, the members voted overwhelmingly to adopt resolutions that establish a new name and a new affiliation, signaling a fresh chapter for youth baseball and softball in our community.
In an effort to continue building the community’s trust and promote transparency, the Board of Directors is releasing the following documents to the Public:
Since 1982, Bastrop Little League, Inc. has been the heart of youth baseball and softball in our community. Previously affiliated with Little League Baseball, Inc., we are excited to embark on a new journey with PONY Baseball & Softball starting with the 2025 Spring Season. This affiliation offers key advantages, including:
Flexible age divisions and no geographic boundaries
Greater local autonomy in decision-making
Age-appropriate playing fields and competitive play opportunities
More realistic rules to prepare players for high school (excluding tee ball and coach pitch division)
Additionally, in order to respect the trademarks of the Little League Baseball, Incorporated, Bastrop Little League, Inc. has adopted a new assumed name certificate and will operate as Bastrop Youth Baseball & Softball Organization (BYBSO).
President Jeffrey Prokop issued the following statement:
“While our name and affiliation may have changed, the heart of our organization remains the same. The same dedicated group of volunteers, coaches, and board members—who have tirelessly worked to support and inspire the youth of Bastrop—continue to lead the way with unwavering commitment. Together, we are excited to build on our rich legacy and create new opportunities for our players and families.
We recognize that there has been some confusion within the community due to another group claiming to represent our Members and organization. However, we want to make it clear that there is only one Bastrop Little League, Inc. As this other group did not adhere to the Constitution governing our organization, any actions they have taken on behalf of our organization are not valid and are not recognized by our Members.
Should other groups desire to form a separate entity and affiliate with Little League Baseball, Incorporated, we fully support their right to do so. However, Bastrop Little League, Inc. is moving forward under the resolutions passed in our Special General Membership Meeting, and under the leadership of its duly elected Board of Directors for FY2025.
